I went to Navdeep Bains' BBQ yesterday, with special guest Paul Martin. It was a wonderfully diverse event, showcasing the multiculturalism of Mississauga-Brampton South. The food was great, split between that most Western of foods, the hamburger, and an array of Indian subcontinental foods. A number of local MP's and candidates were present, including Mississauga Streetsville candidate Bonnie Crombie, Mississauga Erindale MPP and Cabinet Minister Harinder Takar, Mississauga Erindale MP Omar Alghabra, and Etobicoke Centre MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj. Mr. Bains gave a speech detailing the importance of the Green Shift, and his experiences as an MP under Paul Martin, while Paul Martin gave a very strong speech about the topics of aboriginal affairs, a subject close to his heart, and the need for a Liberal government in Canada.
